I'm the Girl

I’m the girl who sits alone
Music blaring throughout the room
Papers rustling due to an open window

I’m the girl who hides her tears
Pillow soaked with the pain shed
Inadequacies bouncing off the walls

I’m the girl who doesn’t trust
Speaking carefully picked words
Never showing the vulnerable side

I’m the girl who hides behind a mask
Colorful smiles that don’t reach the eyes
Working hard to not let others see

I’m the girl who thinks too much
Words flying around confusing all
Regrets sitting on a bench outside

I’m the girl who’s trying to change
Morphing into a butterfly with wings outstretched.
Feeling the freedom that I know I have.

I’m the girl who cares too much
Pain lacing through the mind
And another broken heart.

I’m the girl who is content
Happiness just out of reach
Dreams bigger than anything imagined.

I’m the girl who’s patient.
I’m the girl who’s tired.
I’m the girl who’s helpful…

I Wish

Don't know what I'm thinking.
I can see trouble in the making.
Wishing that you were here
Another thought I shouldn't bare.
Don't get me wrong
This hasn't gone on long.
Only since that day
You smiled at me in that way.
I wish I could let you see
How much you really mean to me.
Every smile and dreamed up kiss
Always leading me back to this.
You're with her
I know that for sure.
It doesn't stop my heart
From giving you a part.
I'm not so sure what this means
I feel like an actress doing some scenes.
You're the one who's caught my eye.
My main hope is that you'll come on by.
So, for now, I'll keep it hidden.
For this love for you is forbidden.

I may wish for a touch
Or a smile and kiss

It's just the way it is.

Though it’s not meant to be.
You know,
But sweetheart do you see?
I’ve tried,
But letting you go isn’t easy.
You’ve seen,
And it’s making you uneasy.
I’m unsure,
And it’s killing me on the inside.
You’re pretending,
But I know you’re trying to decide.
I understand,
Because I know she loves you too.
You care,
But you don’t know what to do.
I’m jealous,
Because I believe you deserve more.
You wonder,
Because it’s different than before.
I’m sorry,
Because I can’t just walk away.
You’re curious,
Because you don’t know your own way.
I love you,
And I wish it were meant to be.

Still There

I can't keep doing this
Don't want to pretend
It seems everyone still sees
All the things I try to hide

Your face still fills my dreams
And the memories still haunt
The love that I'm still feeling
Doesn’t want to fade away

Even though to you I'm nothing
You're still everything to me
No matter where I go
No matter who I see

On my mind you're always there
Like a ghost following me
Can't explain these feelings
The logic just can't be seen

All my emotions for you
Are worlds unto their own
The memories won't fade away
Even though I wish they would

So give me some sort of relief
Take this heartache and walk away
Or if deep down you feel it too
Say it's so and never let me go
